How I Healed IBS, Hormonal Imbalance & Acne Naturally After Pregnancy
After my fourth baby, I kept telling myself I just needed time.
More sleep.
More discipline.
More motivation.
But months kept passing and I didn’t feel like myself anymore.
I wasn’t just tired, I felt off in my own body.
My digestion was unpredictable. Some days I’d wake up bloated before I even ate anything. I dealt with IBS symptoms almost daily and had no idea what would trigger them. My cycles stretched to over 40 painful days, my mood felt all over the place, and the brain fog made simple decisions feel overwhelming.
At the same time, my skin broke out again like I was a teenager, even though I was doing everything “right.”
I tried the usual solutions:
eat cleaner
exercise harder
cut calories
drink more coffee
Nothing actually fixed it.
Then I realized it wasn’t just me
My husband was dealing with his own issues — psoriasis patches, excess dandruff, stomach discomfort, and stubborn acne that never fully cleared no matter what products he tried.
Then came the moment that really changed things.
Our daughter started complaining about ankle pain, and not long after that we noticed psoriasis starting to show up on her skin too.
That’s when I stopped seeing these as random problems.
It was a pattern across our whole family.
We were eating what most busy families eat — quick foods, convenient snacks, “healthy” packaged options, and I started wondering if our bodies were reacting instead of malfunctioning.
Going back to basics
I decided to stop chasing convenience and start learning how the body actually works.
I studied holistic nutrition and wellness and began with a simple elimination approach. We removed common triggers (even veggies) and focused on real, nutrient-dense foods while supporting gut and hormone health.
Not overnight, but steadily, things began changing.
The first change: digestion
Within a week, my bloating decreased, and IBS episodes became less frequent. I lost 7lbs.
That was the first sign my body wasn’t broken, it was reacting.
The second change: hormones
My cycles shortened and became more predictable. The painful, drawn-out hormonal swings eased, and my mood stopped feeling like it was controlled by the day of the month. 42 days down to 28!!
The third change: mental clarity
The brain fog lifted gradually.
I could focus longer.
I reacted less emotionally.
I felt present again.
Then the physical symptoms improved
My acne cleared.
My husband’s skin calmed down.
His stomach issues improved.
Our daughter’s symptoms settled.
What I learned through all of this
Most of what we accept as “normal” — constant fatigue, mood swings, digestive issues, stubborn skin problems - are often signals.
The body is trying to communicate, not fight us.
When we stopped constantly irritating it and started supporting it, it responded.
Healing didn’t come from one product or one perfect diet.
It came from:
consistent meals
removing triggers
supporting the gut
and rebuilding nutrient stores
Why I share this
I know how overwhelming it feels when multiple family members are struggling and you don’t know where to start.
You don’t need perfection.
You need direction.
Small consistent changes compound in ways you can’t see at first, until one day you realize you feel like yourself again.
